odd bone is in the middle and anterior skull base, filling the ethmoid notch.
It has three parts, one lamina bone vertical, one horizontal and two lateral masses.
FOIL VERTICAL
It is divided by the horizontal lamina in two parts
Crista galli apophysis.
Triangular shape has three edges:
☻El leading edge: presents the alar processes by which articulates with the crest on the front, forming a conduit.
☻ The rear edge: this in relation to the interhemispheric fissure.
☻ The lower edge or base: it is continuous with the horizontal lamina.
☻ The apex: gives insertion to the falx.
PERPENDICULAR PLATE
Pentagonal shaped articulated by its edges as follows:
☻ The front edge: the nasal spine of the frontal and nasal bones.
☻ The anterior edge: with the cartilage of the nasal septum.
☻ The trailing edge: the sphenoid.
☻ The posterior edge: the vomer.
☻ The top edge: it is continuous with the horizontal lamina.
HORIZONTAL PLATE (Lamina cribrosa)
presents:
☻ Olfactory channels: hosting the olfactory bulb, which have numerous holes fillets olfactory nerve (sieves)
☻ The superior orbital fissure: leads to an extension of the dura.
☻ ethmoid Hole: attached to the ethmoid ethmoid duct above the groove; It gives way to the inner nasal olfactory nerve branch.
LATERAL MASSES
Cube shaped, have six sides.
TOP FACE
It articulates with the front and features:
☻ ethmoid The semiceldillas: Standing out the infundibulo linking the frontal sinus with middle meatus.
☻ The anterior ethmoid canal: housing the internal nasal nerve branch of the ophthalmic and anterior ethmoid artery.
☻ The channel posterior ethmoid: housing the sphenoethmoidal nerve branch of the ophthalmic artery and posterior ethmoid.
BOTTOM SIDE
Presents, ethmoid semiceldillas and articulates:
☻ With the inner face of the maxilla
☻ With the orbital process of the palatine.
FORMER FACE
Semiceldillas presents ethmoid and articulates:
☻ With the top of the back of the lacrimal bone.
☻ With the inner face of the ascending limb of the upper jaw.
BACK SIDE
Semiceldillas ethmoid presents and articulates with the anterior aspect of the sphenoid.
EXTERNAL FACE (flat bone)
Part of the inner wall of the orbit.
INTERNAL FACE
Forms the outer wall of the nostrils.
presents:
The superior turbinate, having:
☻ An inner side facing the nasal septum.
☻ An external face, limits the superior meatus.
☻ A free bottom edge.
☻ An adherent top edge.
The inferior turbinate having:
☻ An internal face, which faces the nasal septum.
☻ An external face, it limits the middle meatus.
☻ A free bottom edge.
☻ An adherent top edge.
☻ A front end is articulated with the upper crest of the maxillary turbinate.
☻ A rear end is articulated with the upper crest of palatine turbinal.
The inconstant additional turbinates of Santorini and Zuckerkandl.
The superior meatus presents:
☻ The holes in the posterior ethmoid cells.
The middle meatus presents:
☻ The uncinate process.
☻ The ethmoid bulla
☻ The uncibular channel.
☻ holes previous etmoidofrontal ethmoidal cells and breast.
The inferior meatus presents:
☻ The nasolacrimal duct
Pentagonal shaped articulated by its edges as follows:
☻ The front edge: the nasal spine of the frontal and nasal bones.
☻ The anterior edge: with the cartilage of the nasal septum.
☻ The trailing edge: the sphenoid.
☻ The posterior edge: the vomer.
