Boerhaave syndrome

Boerhaave syndrome is thought to be due to the absence of gastroesophageal muscle relaxation, which determines that the reflux of gastric contents exceed the entry of the stomach (cardia), causing dilations tearing of the esophageal wall. Patients often consult for hematemesis. This condition is extremely graver than Mallory Weiss syndrome .

Boerhaave syndrome is characterized by:

- Transmural esophageal tears
- Mediastinistis
- It is less frequent
- More serious

Mallory Weiss syndrome

Mallory weiss syndrome or lacerations Mallory Weiss are the escatofágicas lacerations most frequent of which are associated with nausea and vomiting, as in acute alcohol intoxication.

It is believed to be due to the absence of gastroesophageal muscle relaxation, which determines that the reflux of gastric contents exceed the entry of the stomach (cardia), causing dilations tearing of the esophageal wall. Patients often consult for hematemesis.

Lacerations caused by Mallory Weiss syndrome characterized by:

- Linear and longitudinal Lacerations
- Measure millimeters to centimeters
- They cross gastroenteritis junction (cardia)
- Superficial lacerations
